A Bunch of Fluff

It’s cold. It’s warm. It’s cold. It’s warm. It’s Cold.
*
This is how the weather works in our neck of the woods.
{Minute by minute.}
You never know what you’re going to get.
But, one thing is for sure.
It’s October.
And one afternoon, just as you’re going along your merry way, the sky will become dark and dismal.
Fog may roll in.
It will get cold.
So cold, in fact, that you may be overtaken by an overwhelming desire to drop all rational activity, climb into your flannel pantaloons and fall deeply into a steamy book.
*
It’s on these days that my children beg for
Marshmallow Steamers.
They are simple. They are soothing.
And mostly, they are warm.
So, even though it’s awful chilly outside,
we’re all heated on the innards.
***
How to make
Marshmallow Steamers
2 cups milk
3 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. pure vanilla
*
Heat first 3 ingredients in a large pan until steaming, but not boiling. That’s it. That’s really it. You can top with marshallows, a kiss of whipped cream or a sprinkling of cinnamon.
*
Pour into mugs. Then,
Sip & Slurp
{but do not burp}
*****
And, now
Beloved Cupcakeries,
I am plum tickled to have you visiting.
But, we need some SHOUT OUTS.

Please. Pretty please: Leave a comment.

{Then invite your favorite people to leave one too.}

When we reach 100 original comments,
I’ll announce the first
Conversations With A Cupcake
give.a.way.
***
HERE’S A HAPPY HINT:
It will bestow blessings upon you AND your friends.
In fact, the giveaway is so
entirely bonkersweet you are going
to be boggle-eyed for a WEEK!
***
Doesn’t that sound nice?!

    JEANETTE-Oh!Summer! So. Not. Fair. I would trade five gallons of marshmallow steamers make it be summertime. Hope it’s WONDERFUL! THANKS for your post!

    BRITT-I LOVE YOU, sis. You SHOULD start cooking. And writing a book. You know you have SO many stories to tell.

    KELLI-Thanks for finding me. Isn’t NieNie the best way to start your day?

    JENELLE-Isn’t just looking at food and imagining it nearly as good as actually cooking it? I think so. Perhaps we can have you and your sweet bebe over for dinner sometime!

    JENNY-I hear there is a heat wave in Arizona.(read: my jealousy as I sit here bundled in four sweaters) When do you find the time to cook, blog, be brilliant, AND make steamers. Lovely, I tell ya. Love.Lee.

    Found your blog through Make Life Delicious. I go to church with Sunshine…she’s a sweetheart. You’re blog is so cute! I love to cook and am always up for trying new things. I want to try the marshmallow steamers, but maybe I’m reading the directions wrong. When do I put in the vanilla? The directions say to heat the first 3 ingredients in a pan and that’s it! But the vanilla is the 4th ingredient. When do I put that in?

    Beth-
    Thanks for the edit! You can stick all the ingredients in together, then heat. Add extra sugar, as you prefer. SO GOOD! Have fun!

    Yay! I finally was able to make these and after a cold afternoon feeding ducks and walking around the lake, they warmed the kiddos right up (and they loved them)! I even posted pics up on my myspace of them drinking them up! Thanks for the recipe!!
