An Autumn Blessing

If’n you like maple. Do I have a cookie for you.
If’n you don’t. Do I have a cookie for you.
You will eat one.
The lingering goodness will fill your tastepoppers until you can not resist another. Whereupon you will vow to take just-a-single bite. Then eat seven more.
The rest of your day shall be contentedly whiled away with musings of autumn turned leaves, stacks of warm pancakes, and dreams of being oot and aboot with Gilbert Blythe.
This I promise you.
Frosted Maple Cookies
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. soda
1/2 t. baking powder
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. Mapeleine maple flavoring
Cream butter, sugars, and eggs until fluffy. Add remaining ingredients. Bake 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until edges are barely browned. Frost with Maple buttercream.
Maple Buttercream
1/2 c. butter
2 c. powdered sugar
3 T. Milk
1 t. Mapeleine maple flavoring
Beat all together with electric beater until creamy. Add additional milk by tablespoons, if a thinner consistency is desired. Scrum.
