Oui. Oui.
Andrew has told us for sometime now that children on the playground often ask him where sister Becca is from.
*
“Is she from England?”
*
They will ask, confusing her endearingly unique speech patterns as foreign flair.
*
Last Saturday, the missionaries from our Church stopped by to say hello. When a lull settled upon the conversation, good Elder A said,
*
“Your little girl has the coolest accent. She speaks better English than {ye olde British friend} Nathan Jones.”
*
I mentioned it to Andrew, who said,
See, I told you so.
and after a good giggle, we went our merry way.
*
Not TWO days later, our Elementary music school teacher approached me before school.
*
“Your kids are doing really well in music,” said he.
I nodded. Thanked him.
*
A lull.
*
He perked up, “So…I was wondering, what does your family’s beautiful European accent come from?”
*
I told it to him straight.
*
Hooper. Utah.
And the pearliest parts of heaven.
Right, my Becca?

I think those are fighting words (spoken with a lovely accent!). Nathan and Rebecca will have to have a talk-off. We are going to practice our vocab flash cards to get him into peak condition. BRING IT!!!

I can totally understand. My name is Becca ,coincidentally, and people have always asked me if I am from Boston or the east coast somewhere. I grew up in California, although I was born in Chicago.
