Sick Day

I woke with a cold.
And a thrown out back.
And cramps. Ugh.
*
After church, Andrew–my 10 year old–gathered the children together and whispered to the lot of them, his arms around their thoughtful huddle, in the back seat of our car.
*
Upon arriving home, Rebecca escorted me upstairs to the guest room. Lay down.” She insisted.
*
Alyssa arrived, apron tied around her neck and waist, there to deliver a pot and spoon, “Bang on this if you need anything.”
Jacob hopped up on the bed. “Feeling better mom? Do you want some ice cream?”
*
In no time at all, I was cozied under covers. Delivered ice cream. Watching episodes of “I Love Lucy.” And served, as it was called, “Andrew’s Spaghetti with Andrew’s Top Secret Sauce.
*
Lucky for you, he was willing to share his recipe.
Lucky for me, It’s no secret…
my kids have a way of
making a sick mom feel better.
Lots, lots, better.
*
I think I’m in love with sick days.
I think I’m madly in love with four, delectable children.
